Hi, I am going to be buying a aquarium in the next few days and it includes man made rock instead of Live Rock. Any advantages or Disadvantages for Man Made vs. Live Rock? The Man Made rock is full of Coralline and serves it purpose but I am really more interested in live rock. If I replace the man made with live rock will that mess up the cycle? I would hate to throw away perfectly good man made rock, is there a market for it, even it I just give it away?

Thanks, have a good day!

I'll take some, let me know

Q-Line has formed! Maybe he'll just keep it, if not, sure, would love some!

how porous is the rock.. is it really heavy or does it feel like other live rock.. man made is fine if its been cured properly.. but you won't get as much beneficial bacteria in it if it is dense (which live rock is not)

best way to test this, is pick one of the rocks up out of the water and see how long it drips water. if its very porous, itll take quite some time for the rock to stop draining the water.
