i just bought a complete set up really cheap
it came with this light and i wanted to know what you guys thought about this light
is it strong enough for softies and LPS

If there are anything like teh moonlight bars strips , yes they will be. Like 2 of those lit my solana 34 . But if the are like them, they dont spread light well. I got beams of light instead of a dispersion.
 
The Double Brights are basically Marineland's equivalent of twin bulb T5 viewing bulbs. Not really for corals IMO. This is their reef version of that light:

i looked that up after i bought the set up
i was just wondering if i could get by with it on softies until i can afford the reef version
 
Dave, what about using that double bright LED on a planted tank? about 60 gallons to replace power compacts?

I think it would work for lower light requiring plants. You'd need T5s for higher light plants.
