trying to use this thing i found in the closet to clean sand thats floating in my tank from filling it well its making a gurgling sound and not spitting out much water from the output anyone else have this filter?

Is the tank it's on, full? It needs to be - at least until it gets going (it will keep its prime surprisingly long after a tank is neglected and evaporates...)

Make sure you prime it by filling the chamber with water to get it started.

Make sure the holes in the spray bars are clear - if they're clogged, clean them out with a toothpick or bent paper clip.

In the middle there should be a little gray button. Pull that up to open up the flow as much as possible.

you know, its not full the tank that is lol its maybe 2/3s full could that be it?

Edit: oh also i did fill it with water before i started it

Bingo. Is it "groaning" - sounding like it's having a hard time pulling water? It needs a full tank to get fully primed.

I've seen people let their tanks evaporate (freshwater) to ridiculous lows and the Emperor will still keep going but if you stop it and try to restart it, it won't go until the tank is filled.

They're great HOB filters - very hard to kill.
