Does a sing maroon clown make a good reef tank inhabitant? I am trying to avoid Ich-prone fish.

I have always stayed away from them because, though beautiful, they can be butt holes

I like mine, but I wanted one from the start so the tank is kinda planned around him. I won't be adding any other clowns, or anything that can't hold its own against him.

My guy either sleeps in his barnacle, or plays in the xenia all day; he never bothers my cardinal or pseudochromis.

Thanks...I am going to for it. Darn...I only have 2 fish in a 55 (a 6 line and a fire fish --- my only Ich survivors) Thanks for the advice!

They are really fun to have in the tank but beware though. I had one in my 150 tank and it was very aggressive towards the other fish. It anemone hog as well.

I don't have an anenome, but do have xenia, star polyp, hammer coral and frog spawn (as well as SPS and softies). Will that do?

I've read of so many people banishing them from their tanks. They are insanely aggressive. But everyone said that about 6 lines too and mine doesn't bother anyone. He was rubbing up against my DGME today. It was hilarious.

Not sure about the corals but it would be nice if you had an anemone. Its nice to see them taking care of each other. I have a clarkii clown that is hosting a carpet and a long tentacle. When I feed the anemone shrimp, he snatches it from the tongs and takes it straight to the anemone. At night depending on which anemone the clown sleeps in, they would completely cover the clown up.

My clowns host in my hammer and lay eggs all the time. They seem perfectly happy. Maroons can be super agressive, but they sure are pretty.

I have a pair of maroons. The female is huge.. the biggest I have ever seen. Neither are aggressive at all. I believe she is hosting a large toadstool..

My tank is a 110g. They seem happy in there. I hope one day they will lay eggs for me:)
