One of my old used MaxiJets the was used for my saltwater mixing went out. I have another that I've used to move some water while having some coral in an Interceptor bath.

Can I somehow disinfect the pump and use it in the saltwater mixing or no?

I wouldn't risk it, I am sure some or all of the pump materials are inert or non-absorbant. Also know that sometimes a "disenfecting" reaction can be incomplete. I experinced this when following the advice by Martin A Moe is the late 80s.
There are others more qualified to answer your questions than me. I am a too risk-adverse.

That was my thought as well, but I wanted to be sure before doing anything stupid.

That's what I could not get out of my tank, crushed coral etc. MAM recommended it in lieu of a total tear-down. He said it was absolutely unnecessary. I followed his instructions and bleached the tank and its contents....then I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed in addition to adding chlorine remover and sodium hyposulfate (aka Hypo). I am not saying that bleaching won't work and I know many that do and maintain healthy aquariums, that was just my personal experience and still feel the sting.

I think this is the direction I'm headed. Anyone have a used "clean" 1200?

I would say just lots of freshwater if all you are trying to get rid of is interceptor. But thats just me...

I ran it in hot water for about 15-20 minutes. Now it's up and drying! I just have to figure out if I'm going to use it.

You will not have any problems using that pump for whatever you want after that.

I never had an issue with bleach when i used it to kill off rock for various reason. I do however let it dry thoroughly before it is reintroduced into my system.

Why would Interceptor affect the plastic of a pump to the point it couldn't wash off with water?

Heck, I don't know! I'm new to this stuff............I'm just covering my bases and getting my money's worth!!

Intercepter isnt going to hurt anything in your saltwater mixing station. Rinse it with some RO and its good to go.

+1 people have used intercepted in their tanks and don't bleach their tanks to get rid of it. It naturally dissipates or decays over time.

I don't blame you for being cautious, but it would be fine w/o all of the rinsing. Interceptor has to be at certain levels to have any effect on inverts. The residue on the pump would be FAR below that. Use it with no worries.....
