Maxspect razors, impressions?

I have two and love them both. I can keep anything I want with no heat, noise or complaints what so ever.

I have the 160 watt as well over my 65 gallon and so far i like it. I have had it for about 3 months now.

Edit: What are yall running your settings on?

Thanks. I found an open box online and ordered it. 120 going over a rimless 30.

I have two of them in my Frag system and my Zoas and Chalice love them. My SPS frags not so much. Even though there full spectrum Leds, I struggle to maintain SPS frags and I've moved them over to my MH's

I wish they were APEX controllable but the internal settings in the fixture works great. You'll need to play with the settings to get a good point to where your coral colors are where you want it and you get good growth.

Overall, there a pretty good fixture.

I agree. I have 3 160 watters over my 125 DT, but I also supplement with T5 - 4 bulbs to get the growth in SPS mature colonies. The one thing I would have liked better is instead of 3 pucks of lights, spread the lights out over the entire surface of the fixture to allow for light to envelope the tank's corals. If you don't have them over a tank with mature SPS colonies and have mostly LPS and softies, then you will be fine (IMHO).

I'm looking at building a hood to house t5 supplement lighting, do you have any pictures of your setup?

I will give them a try. Sounds like they are hit or miss with SPS, which is my focus. I might be going back to AIs like I had on my previous 20 gallon. Got excellent growth. Just couldn't pass up this open box deal. We will see. Maybe since my tank is only 16/17" deep it will work okay.

I can tell you the PAR readings i got were unreal. Much higher than i would have expected.

Thanks, I might have to take you up on that. LEDS + T5 sounds pretty awesome.

they may even be higher par that you're reading.. i've talked to a few who have discovered the blue LEDs don't read well on the par meters...

keep in mind higher par doesn't mean better light for corals, although a good light WILL have good par.. .dig ?:)
