One of the power supplies died on my Panorama Pro, so I decided it was time to finally use the Mean Well drivers I bought so long ago. I wired it all up, plugged in in, and proceeded to cause a minor explosion and trip the breaker. Awesome!

So, clearly, I need a little help.

I started over again with a new Mean Well driver just to eliminate any possible problems with the one I had the unintentional fireworks with. I now have wired it to a plug only. The output wires are still bare.

It's an ELN-60-24D, so my understanding is that it should be putting out 24V. However, when I plug it in and put a multimeter on the output wires, I'm consistently only seeing 3V.

I guessed that -- being a dimmable driver -- maybe 3V was the default if something wasn't hooked to the dimming wires, so I wired it up completely (with no explosions this time) and connected it to my Apex and some old Panorama LEDs I had lying around. Still no dice, though.

Am I misunderstanding something basic, or is there an issue in the connections somewhere that needs to be figured out?

Rapidled.com has some guides on wiring. I would check them out. Also the driver could need adjusting depending on amperage and voltage needed.

Here's the instructions:

Output voltage range is 12-24V DC, but that depends on having some current flow - 2.5A at max.

The voltmeter won't carry the current, so the driver probably isn't putting out power.

How many LEDs are in the circuit?

And what wattage/current level?

Based on these instructions, it should be pretty straightforward. After reading them yet again, though, I did answer one of the questions which you did as well: [I]The Meanwell 60 watt ELN60-24D must be used with a controller. If you do not use a controller, the LED driver will not turn on.

</em>The LED modules are [IMG]http://www.ecoxotic.com/panorama-pro-module.html">twelve LEDs in a 16W strip</a>. They have a female receptacle on one end that connects to the male connector in the three-way Panorama Pro adapter cable that allows you to connect up to three LED strips. I'm such a doofus. I checked every</em> single individual piece to make sure there was nothing I was overlooking, and then it hit me: The variable ports on the Apex are</em> on, right?

Nope

They were set to Manual Off. Guess what happened when I turned them to Auto and the ports turned on...yep, there was light.

Thanks for your help, guys. Sorry for being dumb :)

Lol.

I was going to suggest trying a 9v battery to the dimmer inputs.

And of course a tongue-check to make sure the battery is good....

what? you dont do those yourself??? i used to love it doing it when i was a kid lol but its been a few years
