Media in reactor

When the media in a calcium reactor gets used up, do you just refill it or replace all the media? I have had my reactor running for about 8 months and about 1/4 of the media is used up.

I change mine out about every 4 months. I always put back in what is left but give it a thorough cleaning.

either replace it all, or do what Mark does. Little bits and pieces of mush will get left in there, and the bottom can severely stratify if not distubed.

I use most of it up but every 6 months or so I take the whole calcium reactor apart, take all media out and then run vinegar through there to clean everything up. If I have much media left I rinse it like crazy and reuse but I usually don't!
