I have had my lights approx 2 weeks now. The dimmable lights first 3 days I ran lights at 1/2 power after that ramped em up full blast.
These are over my 30g cube hanging about 6-8 inches off water could probably lower em a lil bit but figured I would keep em higher at first to be on safe side.
Previous light was a 150w sunpod with bout 16 months run time on a Phoenix 14k
In the 2 weeks I can say that all my acan colors have improved and my rainbows I got from 1embrews are simply amazing note these are on the sand bed
I also had a sunset monti and a red planet that had pretty much lost it's color after it was placed in my tank that I got from Holley. These are now coloring back up.
I have a rasta frag that has gone from 3 heads to 6.
I have other coral growth and coloration as well.
I feel leds were experimental at best to begin with but now its my opinion that they have just as much capability as sustaining positive growth and color in coral as metal halides. They may not grow coral as fast but they definately have there place.
I think in time as we learn more the cost of leds will come down. Along with lighting that will only improve over time making halides good for nothing. I know several have already made the swith
