i like aquamedic fixtures for double end bulbs and i use pendants for single end. i like single end metal halides because of the radium 20k bulbs. when i use double end bulbs i like the phenoix 14k bulbs...

Get the best you can afford.
What wattage is based on tank size and other factors.
Stay away from the no name ones on ebay.
