Ok, so I don't test for Mg NEAR as much as I should. I've been having trouble keeping alk up.. even dosing kalk so I think to myself .... Self, perhaps my Mg is low and inhibiting the saturation point.

so ive forgotten.

what is my target range Mg.. isn't it like 1300 or so?

I shoot for around 1350-1400

Agreed. Some folks have intentionally raised it to 1800 to help control Bryopsis, but that's kind of an "off label" use ;)

1350 is what we aim for.

I usually just try to keep it in range, which I got from the Randy Holmes Farley chemistry series on Reef Central, which is 1275-1350, I think.

Magnesium levels are about the only thing I ever need to adjust in my reef tanks, come to think of it. A properly tweaked calcium reactor is a good thing.
