MH problem

i dont know why but every now and then my MH will turn itself off and turn back on in a couple of minutes. does anyone know if MH will have a safety for if it gets to hot it will do that? or should i try to replace the ballast?

I'd guess overheating, but not sure. Keep in mind that it is bad for MH lamps to turn off and then back on before they cool down. Controllers have a built-in delay for MH so that if they go off, they can't re-fire for 10 or 15 minutes.

Is it an electronic or magnetic ballast? This is a common sign of a magnetic ballast that is going bad.

it doesnt turn back on immediately. but im not really timing it when it does shut off. i will now though

not sure. is there a major difference that i will be able to tell? or should i check with the manufacturer? i bought the light used so...
