I currently have 3 250 MH 20000k and was wondering what kind of supplemental lighting should be used to get the best color out of my zoas and other corals. Ive been strongly considering going led to get the colors I like but I really like the MH and the growth im getting with them.

Ive thought about useing the led adhesive strips but the only place I can put them is on the reflectors and id imagine they'd get to hot

Why not go with both MH & LED. I have been considering going this route with 3 250w MH fixtures and one or two of these:

Not a bad idea, I dont think I will have roomoto put any more fixtures. Only thing I can think of is mount some bulbs above the reflectors to the canopy

Reefbrite strips pack a punch for their size. Little expensive for an led strip but it definitely makes a difference.

I was just looking those up, your right they are pricey but they seem like a pretty good option for me.

+1. I am about to order one of the super actinic to supplement my 250 MH.

I have 3 24" ho T5 actinic bulbs to supplement my 20000k mh. They work very well. I can't honestly say how they work together but I know the actinic bulbs make my mushroom coral that popped up look beautiful.

I will draw it out for you now so you can get an idea. I won't be home until late tonight when I can take pictures. But absolutely I can

I got a cheap LED strip from a guy on ebay to supplement my MH, and i must say i am impressed with the results. I've had it on there for about six months and haven't had any problems.

I don't feel any need to supplement my 20k radium for color, that being said, depending on what kid of tank you have marineland makes a cool little led strip that is submersible (even though it won't be fully submersed) and actually attached to the rim of the rim of the tank and hides behind it compmetely.

Even the cord has little clips that you can move along it to run it around to the back if the tank behind te rim.

Edit: Also they are cheap and very bright
