wow, this morning I walk into my tank and find one of my new red mithrax crabs eating the new growth tips on my stag horn coral. He's literally crushing and breaking off the tips and eating them.
Luckily it was in a spot where I could nab him.

I had 2 emerald crabs for about a month now that were model citizens and I got 2 from reefcleaners to help with a small algae bloom I had after RB annihilation. The reefcleaners ones were red and this one was a little larger than the other.

Never would have expected this! I hope the other one doesn't pick up the habit or he's gonna learn where he stands in the food chain also!

Lucky you saw it happen. I would never have guessed an emerald crab would be the culprit.

Glad you got him out before a huge amount of damage was inflicted.

+1...I once had one kill some rainbow acans and like four single polyp zoa frags before I discovered who the culprit was. They're good for algae, but once they run out, they suck.

I found an emerald doing the exact same thing. I have now removed all my emeralds.

Keep crabs fed and they rarely are a problem. If they get hungry, they'll eat whatever they can get their claws on
