I have a huge Montipora coral that is slowly turning white, what is causing this? Also my Green Star Pol lips are not opening up. This started last week but is getting worse. The Montipora coral is the size of a basket ball I have had if for right at a year now. And it has been up till now been growing like a weed. The only thing I have changed is I went to T5s about 2 months ago, from T12s.

Do u still see poly extention? If not than it's dead, if it still there it'll be fine in a few monthes

Bleaching.

Usually caused by too much light and/or heat.

How many T-12's did you have/what type, and
How many T-5's do you now have/what type?

What's the tank temp?

I had 8 T12 changed out The 4 day light T12s to the 4 T5, Tank Temp, is 78. Does it take a while for them to start to bleach? They look dead, crabs are all over it right now. (looks like they are eating the white parts)

All of the lamps are 24 inches long, the T12 were/are 40 watts, and all are over driven by icecap 660s.

Thank you for the reply.

This is interesting to me because I've being having issue with my green birdsnest. The pink one I have is fine but not the green one. But to me it does look like I can see the polyps on the branches. They're jut not extended. I wonder if the heat has anything to do with it as I normally don't run the A/C down in my basement.

I did turn it on tonight as it was 81 down there 30 minutes ago and the tank was a bit too warm as a result.
