just found some on my prized piece..has anyone run into these and had luck removing them?or am i pretty much sol??from what ive read it doesnt seem there's a concise method of dealing with them..

Pig dewormer. I forget what it's called. If you don't have a lot of Montipora, I'd throw them all out and wait a few months to add them back. Once you have them, they're near I possible to get rid of.

Yes, They lay their eggs on the underside of the montipora. So unless you can get to every square inch of the piece, including crevices to rid it of eggs it is extremely hard to get rid of them. Some people believe wrasses are the answer. But most of their damage is done at nights when wrasses are sleeping.

I only have one plating Monti and have read that some people have had luck dipping them in a 50g/l solution of potassium permangenate for 90 min. Any one try this before??

I would toss the plating monti. Otherwise, you'll never get rid of them..
