I have little aiptasia issue in my tank.....well a bit more than a little. I went to my local LFS yesterday and picked up a couple of pepperment shrimp. I know they are hit and miss but I wanted to try them. Well this afternoon I scanned my tank when I got home and found one being eaten by one of the aiptasia. I was hopeing when I pulled him out he might still alive, but nope. shrimp sushi. I called the LFS for some more ideas and he suggested a copperband butterfly fish. I did a little research on the CBB, they seem to be hit and miss with aiptasia, and seem to be diffucult to keep. What are some of your thoughts on this and maybe some other alternatives. I have read about Joes Juice and Kalk paste. Any other "natural" alternatives such as other fish, and or invertebrates? Thanks.

let me get this right, your aiptasia ate your peppermint shrimp? a syringe with kalk paste works when done correctly. ive also done lemon juice, boiling water, and if all that fails - theres always electrocution.

That must be one huge aiptasia! I had a couple big ones that I thought were too big for my shrimp, but they decimated all of them. Good luck, as I'm unaware of any others that eat it.

Here is a link of a Berghia Nudibranch eating some. I think a filefish is good also

Looks like those are hit and miss as well.

Epoxy stick take a small piece stick it over the aptasia as long as its not another hole for him to pop out.of it will take care of him no problem

And fire.

thanks for the replies! yep it ate the shrimp. when I saw it, it made me think of a picture that I have seen where a frog is being eaten by a stork, and the frogs legs are sticking out of the birds mouth, his hands are around the birds throat, and the caption reads "never give up". not the case with the shrimp.
