im gong to move my sump bc its in the closet behing my display, all my plumbing runs through the wall. its just too crowded in the clouset for all my stuff. so im going to move the sump out into the room, my question is, im going to increase the horizontal legnth of plumbing but not the vertical legnth, so will this slow down my return pump enough to matter? ill have about 8 feet of horizontal pipe.

TOTALLY neglectable unless your pump is already at its max head pressure...

Thanks guys. Got it finished up today. Much better! Temp is already a few degrees lower! I have plenty of room for maint aswell!

Awesome. I know I love how easy it is to work in my sump now that I've moved my sump to my storage room!!

yup! when i was trying to plan for this system i thought itd be a great idea to put the sump in the closet bc it was directly behind the display tank and would be out of the way! but i soon discovered that it was very difficult to work on and extremely cramped for space. Not to mention the temp and humidity were off the charts in that closet! Its so much better out in the open in the room now! i have pics of before and after i need to post!

I took some blue LED's and put them on the back side of the lower chamber of my monster skimmer and it looks cool as heck! Glows blue with the bubbly water churning and swirling! A nice functional decoration for the room!
