Hi Guys,

Finally my lease is up and need to move to a new place next weekend (8/3/2013).

One complete day is dedicated to move my 225G tank.

What would be the best way to move the tank? I am mainly concerned with the tank itself. I've moved the livestock before so not so much stress on that part. Do you know any local helpers that can help me moving the glass tank? Or maybe you have experience and willing to help?

Last year, just regular movers helped me with the move and turned out very risky. I do not want to risk breaking the tank so looking for a more reliable way.

Any advice is greatly appreciated..

If I were closer, I'd help for a 6 pack of TurboDog. LOL.

Hopefully, someone closer will chime in. Movers can get the job done, but those that are in the hobby tend to take more care with your tank...

Either lowes or home depot has rubbermaid bins for sale. It was 2 for $7 or something. You would probably need 10, I am guessing. You can leave the live stock in there for a day or so, until you get your tank moved and filled. If you have access to large barrels, you can Pre-make your saltwater at the new place and transfer everything the same day, combining it with some of the old water.

I am near perimeter mall. Two places are 5 minutes away from each other.

No stairs. truck can go to the same level so no up/down move.

I've already got 10 large Styrofoam boxes for the livestock, need to get some bug jars for the water though my main concern is with the move of the tank itself..

That's not too far from me, I wouldn't mind lending a hand. A tank that big is going to take alot of people though.

Thanks for offering help. I really appreciate it. Are you sure you wouldn't mind helping with this? I have my brother too but we need 4 at least.

No biggie. I live pretty close to Spalding Dr. I'm going to guesstimate you're looking for about 6 people though.

Here's a shot of the tank. Not that big..

Thanks :) "6 pack of TurboDog" would be the first thing I'll make sure to have in the fridge before moving anything.. ;)

Thanks I need to make sure not to get drunk before lifting this beast...

I moved my 150 tall with me and another guy and boy do I wish I had a few more guys because it nearly made me want to post a getting out thread... all in all just in moving my tank and livestock without setting up it took 14-15 hours from time I started draining and packing til the time I unloaded into my 125 temp tank that I had set up in the garage at the new house

We only lost one coral and 1 fish which we are sure jumped somewhere during the move because we never found him. As for the coral it was one of my favs but (elegance) got stung by a candy cane they had fallen on him in temp tank

I know the hassle.. I need a good night sleep beforehand.. It is not an easy job.

Yea good luck its always stressful with the move alone then to throw in what we work so hard for makes for high blood pressure
