MP40w es shooting out bubbles

My MP40's have been running fine for months. I decided to take them out today and give them a good scrub (remove algae) with a toothbrush. I've tried putting them back in the original position for the past 2 hours but each time I turn them on, they start shooting out small bubbles. It was clear before I cleaned them. Any idea what could be causing that?

like REALLY small bubbles coming from the housing? it will stop after all the bubbles get out

Yep. The air's coming from somewhere...

As mentioned, it's air somewhere. Turn them on and let them run. They can't create air, so it will stop soon enough.
