I bought a superb MRC from Mojo. I wanted to get more out of it so I ended up making it a MRC Recirculated Skimmer. After consulting the MRC experts, well RAJ and their designers, I went ahead with the project. I bought 2-3/4" bulk heads and drilled one hole between the acrylic tube and back of the becketts for the feed and a hole about 2" from the bottom of the skimmer box on the left side for the recirc. Originally I was using a MAG 12, but last night I switched it out with a PCX-30. The difference is amazing! I am currently feeding it with a 460 GPH Quite One pump. I might up it to a MAG5 to get more flow into the skimmer. It takes forever to fill it or adjust the level in the skimmer. I am quite happy with the new efficiency out of the skimmer with the new pump. I definitely won't be adding the Sedra5000! Sorry for the crappy pictures, low light, not a steady hand with the iPhone.

Sweet!

Glad you finnaly upgraded the pump, you'll love the difference!

Last night within minutes of hooking the pump up it was frothing...and this morning there was already a dark skimmate filling the colleciton cup. When I said expert I should have left off Raj's name....he was just the T-shirt model at the MRC booth!

Man what a noticeable difference! Very cool! And shame on you for doing a project and not including me.

I also ended up taking off the middle riser. If I have it set up like Chris....7" tall then I could see using the riser, works like a dream now!

Yeah, but I make that t-shirt look GOOD!

Oh you poor boy, your mother lied to you way too much when you were a kid....so sad.

If you decide to use a larger pump than the PCX-30, you'll need the riser, so hang on to it.

Glad to hear everything worked out - you're braver than I ever was!
