i borrowed this thing and i have no idea what brand it is, its a big boy though, it has a copeland compressor and im thinking it may just need to be charged! but it dosent say what to put in it? any one have any ideas? i think its a 3/4 horse.

WIthout a decal, it could be a number of different ones.

Odds are, it takes R-134a.

You can eliminate certain ones by the connectors.

Custom something,

I can't think for the hell of it of the name - post a picture, it's a well known but disappeared brand...
It takes R134a and was refilled recently - does everything else work as far as compressor and fan?

Dang, ok well I was hopeing it had been sitting for a while and maybe leaked down, I can't tell if the compressor is working or not, it def gets hot. The fan works but it dosent seem like it's turning the correct rpms. The rancho controller was wired wrong, the ground wire was on one of the hot leg. I swapped them and it works perfect. So I will have to get my dad to look at it. He said something about putting some type of gauges on it to test the thing. Hopefully we can get her to chill!!

Jon, the lead engineer for Custom Sea Life (got bought out by Current USA, I believe) has started a new chiller company called Tradewind Chillers.

The website is:

I can't remember the guy's name but he was super nice and talked to me for at least an hour even though he didn't have to.

Custom Sea Life made a quality chiller. One of the chillers I used to own is in one of the sponsor's store and is still running strong.

Confirmed: Custom Sea Life!

Pictured is 1/2HP, but you get the idea...
