Im in the process of planning my next system. I'll be moving back to atlanta in the next couple of months and will be setting up the biggest system i have ever owned. Im planning for a couple of thousands of gallons.. yeap you read that right. So i thought id start off by getting my peripheral equipment ready for the new system... I ordered some acrylic and heres what i got so far...comments welcome...

my acrylic tubes ... 1/4 inch thick.im debating on the actual length i should make the calcium and kalk reactors but 3ft is the minimum i want to go with...

underside view of the flange... i routed it so that the tube fits flush inside a groove.

the top of the unit... i still have to drill and tap the lid for some john guest fittings...

waiting on some plumbing to arrive before i start on the body of the tube and base....more pics to follow...

Cool project.

How do you plan to get an even dissolve rate in the calcium chamber? For that matter, how do you plan to keep that much kalk stirred up?

That is really nice work. Do you use special router bit to cut acrylic and what kind of jig do you use to make the circles?

the wide angle lens plays some funky tricks on the tube in that last picture...

thankx guys. To answer some of your questions

-yes thats a lot of media im gonna need, but then again theres a lot of coral im gonna have
- in a kalk reactor i dont need much flow. just enough to stir up the kalk. I made one a couple of years ago, a little smaller but all that needed was a maxijet 400 to keep it stirred up. As for the calcium reactor , im gonna need a big pump and/or spray bar to keep the media dissolving
-I use carbide tip router bits for acrylic routing
- yeap never noticed that in the last pic sure does look like its getting wide.

well my parts arrived while i was out of town, and i managed to get some more done.....

found an old pic of the first the kalk reactor i ever made...
