I can't send money anymore via PayPal account because I used over limit that they allowed. They require me to have either a bank account or apply their credit card to remove the block. Anyway, who do I contact to renew my membership?

My email: mailto:vothanh@hotmail.com">vothanh@hotmail.com</a>

Thank you,
Thanh

I have been using Paypal for years and I received the same notice. They either want me to get their credit card or give them my banking info., instead of using my existing credit cards they have on file. This seems like they are trying to force their customers into using their CC, this has happened since E-bay purchased Paypal. I told them I don't give my banking info to people that I don't want them to use it and I don't want their CC. They said that was the only way to use Paypal So I cancelled my account with them and have stayed off E-bay. :lol2: Does anyone know of another company that is similar to Paypal? Stacy22 - I hope you take cash at the meetings for our memberships or can we send a check? Thanks, Holley

Same here...an attempt to strong arm consumers and their good customers. Obviously, it's an attempt to minimize their own exposure to fees from other credit issuers. Monopolies are bad. I hope this policy backfires on them just as the $5 surcharge backfired on another well known entity. I have ceased nearly all e-bay activity as a result. Consequently, if I do use e-bay I patronize sellers who accept other forms of payment other than paypal. Most of the time it's not even worth the hassle.

I have both my bank account and credit card connected to my paypal and they have never asked me to sign up for their CC. Maybe its a way for them to ensure you are not trying to scam using a fake CC?

They never said a thing to me until I reached 10K in purchases. Then they started asking.

Same for me

haninja-they already have what they want from you, your bank account info! PFCDeitz-yours too! I have had problems with banks letting other get to my banking info-it can be a nightmare, be carefull who has your personal info!!!!!

I have been with Paypal for about 5 years, never had a problem with them. The credit card is with my Credit Union/same card for 5 years. Now I'm rewarded for paying off my CC debt monthly by being told that if I want to keep my paypal, they will only except me, if I'm willing to give my banking info or get their Paypal Credit Card. They said they are not going to use my banking info, unless I have a problem! I asked them what happens to my banking info if they get hacked? Said that can't happen! I said it can happen to any company-Bank America said the same thing to me and we know what happen to their data base. I will only deal with e-bay, if the seller will take my CC.

Edit: I have had 2 of my credit cards since I was 18yr old-that should be stable enought(42 yrs):D

Amen. A credit card hacked is one thing. Your bank account is quite another. "We'll not use that info unless you have a problem." Please define "problem". Sounds like e-bay's version of a margin call.

I leave about $20 in the account PayPal has and that way if they try to take something out it won't impact my day to day finances and just file an unauthorized charges case with my bank.

That is an excellent idea. A very eloquent circumnavigation.

However, could they not overdraft this account and perhaps cause damage to your relationship with your banking institution?

We are not set up to accept credit card payments except those made through paypal.

Other payment options are:
1) check payable to ARC sent to me through the regular ole' USPS (address on the membership page here on the forums).
2) Cash or check in person at the meeting.

That is exactly what I have been doing with my Credit Union. However, I hardly ever buy something with money from the bank account. I have my American Express registered with PayPal and use that, as it gives you the best purchase protection.

Mine is a savings account, not a checking account. The max that can go out is what is in it.

Stacy-Thanks, I can pay at the meeting the month before I'm due.
Dave-I will talk with my credit union to see if that will work for me.
