My sump had a center section that could be dedicated to either a fuge or a skimmer; I wanted both. Since the return pump was going into the third section, the refugium would have to be external. Instead, I came up with a plan to put a box in the sump and T off the return line into it. The box would need to drain back into the sump without use of another pump. Chris at Fish Scales built the prototype, but I still needed a way to get the water back into the sump. John at All Things Aquatic designed a new version with teeth and sent it over to MRC to get fabricated. Here it is!

Thanks again to Chris, John, Cliff, and MRC; I'm definitely pleased

Cool! Since you have the height, any reason you didn't go with a 4-5" sand bed in there?

it's not too late. i didnt think a dsb in an area that small would make a significant difference. you think i should go for it?
