Just so you can see, I got a shot that has the readings. I am considering raising my lights now....

I am borrowing the meter from a member, that could be how it looks familiar.

How would one tell if the meter is off? How would that be calibrated? If it helps, I tested the meter against against a stark led earlier that day and received readings that went along with the manufacturers readings.

The ecoray112d has 112 1 watt LEDs with 40 degree optics. I have never had issues growing sps on the sand bed, so I wouldnt doubt that it is accurate.

It's funny. Sometimes the "cheaper" less popular components completely smoke the compitition when it comes down to actuall practical functionality. I'm glad I didn't save up for the Sol. Or for 7 Sols... Cause apparently you need a ton of these unit to get decent coverage.

Edit: I used the meter to test my wave point HO t5s and got results conclusive with the recent thread that was discussing wave point lights.

I'm still not sure how I feel about leds. The par may be there, but something is still missing.

Damage control time:

Sometimes it is hard to tell if someone is joking or being sarcastic through text. In order to keep feelings from getting hurt, and folks getting offended, I've prepared a few nice things to say about the Sol.

It is dimable, modular, light wieght, can simulate sunset and sunrise, and can be used with the apex

Edit:

Bring it on by here so we can test the cheaper china version I bought. Then we'll know for sure.

Edit: There we go. Now you don't have to copy and paste.

Would you mind telling us how you did that ^^

Haven't figured it out yet....

Why you be hating whitey. Don't insult my radions and AI . I have ecoray now too! But honestly for the price the Eco ray is amazing. But I still stand with what I said about ur light, it's too white!!! I think they redid the blue on mine or something it's. It quite that white, but still a 50/50 split.

Yes, I used the same one. I then used a BNIB meter and got different numbers. Seemed like the one you used adds about 50-75 points. I don't know which meter is telling the truth.

Why would you raise the lights if things are growing well? Don't trust the number, trust the coral.

Either, just would like to know how to post videos that way. I'm normally on my Droid tablet (the computer way?).

Good question: on the outter rim of the aquarium, I am getting lower numbers. Since they are pretty good in the center, raising it would allow of a wider span.

I get good growth, but some of the color seems compromised. Not sure if this is a result in low nutrients or too much light. I am trying to add extra nutrient first.

Thanh386;731838 wrote: Add nutrient?

Yes. Some of us don't over stock the heck out of our tanks, change gfo weekly, do weekly water changes and feed lightly. This results in low nutrient. In my case too low. So now have been adding a few fish, feeding heavier, and adding trace elements in between changes and I am starting to get better color.

Lol. Do I overstock? I never heard of anyone being so counter productive Dylan. Make the water super clean only to waste money to make it dirty? Why not stop changing the gfo so much and change water less
