The male in the picture has been without 2 nems for a few months and today he is carting around a small bleached bubbletip .
I lost 2 months ago and just re surfaced recently recently with no color and smaller .

Sorry its not to clear he was 6" deep in the rock.

There cool critters , but better suited for a smaller tank so you see them more , ther not prone to venturing far from the base rocks .
I don't see them as much as I'd like that's probably why I get excited over them still.
I wish the bubble tip would relax and show me the bubble tips for a photo , but its in the dark I only got that picture with a flash.

I have two in my tank and they are constantly stealing my smaller nems. I kind of regret putting them in as the nems never make it because in my tank the crabs never let them get enough light or food. Had one take my new red carpet nem, never saw it again...

I got fry like 50 from mine mating have only seen one since the babies

I have had a pom pom for about a year now that has no nems. He came in as a hitchhiker and has never had any in my tank. He has always done well without them.

I don't understand. This is a 1" crab. Does it take a small piece of an anemone which heals into a tiny anemone? How could a 1" crab take a carpet? Or a bubble tip?

This has always confused me, lol

It took mine because it was tiny the size of a dime before it got lost for a month the new was near death when I found it but as to how it could walk away with something healthy iv no idea , I know decorator crabs move bigger nems n such
