Right so with a hell of alot of help from members on this forum i have now managed survive my 1st 7 months in the marine world. (and only 1 flood which happened today)

So what started off as just a small pass time a nice simple 60 gallon tank with a couple of fish maybe a nice coral or two. Has now gone into overdrive.

Today i finished installing my Overflow + my sump. Which had added another 18 gallon of water to my system.

Taken 90% of the live rock out of the tank and put it in the waterbutt. Taken my protein skimmer pump out of the tank and attached it too water butt and now am loving how much swimming room my tank now has.

Will take a new picture after i reattach the lid and lighting tomorrow.

But to quell the excitement untill tomorrow here is a nice picture of the mass of tubing now taking over the corner of my mothers dining room.

Just to explain how my system now works. I have an overflow sending water down into my Water butt. The exit pipe runs down to the bottom of the water butt into all the live rock ive put in there. And my external filter i was previously using then returns the water back into the display tank from the top of the water butt.

I have the skimmer pump in the water butt sending water through the skimmer which is then returned into the WB.

Well chuffed with how it now looks :D

Logically, it's the sump.

You guys need to learn to speak English English.

I figured that it either referred to a sump, or the particular type container that is doing sump duty.

I just want to know which it correct and more importantly why that term is the term for it.

Geez, Jenn, I'm getting critiqued on my language skills all over the place from you today! First the raisin soda thing and now "English English". :D:D:D

LOL!

Well I do speak 4 languages:

English, French, Canadian and American!

(My dad's from the UK, maternal grandmother was French Canadian, I'm Canadian and now I live in the US ... and as such, have learned the 'language'.)

All the forms of English are quite different!

Now, go have yourself a "raisin" Fanta and chill :)

You know, that "water butt"/sump does bear a slight resemblance to a camping toilet... :clown: (<-- paparazzi photo of Grouper Therapy)

What language is it over here in Centre? Cause' it isn't English.. its what ever Boomhower speaks.

Hey guys, we're hijacking Shaman's thread... but Brandon, I've heard someone from Alabama speak that way too, and it's no language that I know.

Shaman- we're still waiting for pix :) Show them your water butt! (That sounds odd!)

I'm waiting on a full tank shot.

I'm kinda partial to this one...

Just sayin'...

Right here we go. Had some camera issues (i lost my fone cable to connect it to computer)

So here we go all the live rock that is no longer in tank is now in sump. Toadstool looks in a bad way on the pics but id forgotten to plug its powerhead back in so its alot happier now still a small section in the centre where the colour hasnt returned though

Thought id update =)

My two clowns are doing great but my wrasse has been missing for 4 months now :( fearing the worst went lookng for him but couldnt find anything so im guessing he died and my crabs polished him off.

I think ive finally solved my Algae problem. Because i was lazy and didnt change my background it wasnt thick enough to prevent natural light entering the tank. Having the tank under a window also didnt help this. So now my tank is covered in thick black paper on 3 sides so no light gets in or out so far so good as the algae eaten by my two urchins isnt returning. They dont seem to like taking the algae out of the sand though so considering a type of Blenny to do that.

Added a green stripe mushroom colony today to add some colour.

Had a slight problem last month though as my heater fell completely under the water and one of the Urchins managed to turn the temp onto full and the temperature sky rocketed unsure of how long it was at this temp for but could have been anything up to 2 weeks as i was away with Uni. So my im fearing the worst for my toadstool which hasn't opened out since i noticed this on 2nd of November.

Right just an update been away from forum for months. Been working abroad for the summer in Mallorca and Cyprus so the parents have been left incharge of the tank.

On my last post i was mentioning turning my tank into a damsel only tank this has been quite succesful and my current stocklist is 2 humbug damsels, 3 dusky damsels, 1 neon damsel, 1 blue and yellow damsel (i forget its real type) and my two clownfish + 2 sea urchins which are now huge.

As some of you know from my other threads i have two tanks 1 4 foot 60 gallon and 1 2 n half foot 30 gallon. In my smaller tank was an Axolotyl that is now 8 inches long so ive had to swap my tanks over so my Axxy is now in the big tank loving it while my fish are in a tub on the floor while the small tank cycles ready for the fishies.

Since last updating this the Tuxedo hogfish unfortunately died he chased the orange goby into the rock at the front and cut his face open and unfortunately never recovered.
The orange fire goby also died but i couldn't find a reason for that he stopped coming out of his hole after the hogfish died.

The Goniopora unsurprisingly died. My clownfish kept trying to host in it whenever it extended so it just stopped coming out so stopped feeding.

And the toadstool disintergrated into nothingness.

Now with a smaller tank my lighting will be upped as my 4 aquaray l.e.d strips will have less area to cover and less depth so hopefully this will help me in keeping corals in the future.
