Anyone here have a tank getting natural sunlight? I never really considered it but my tank will be getting a bit of direct and indirect sunlight in the morning. Some say that it will cause algae problems but with controlled nutrients, that wouldn't be in issue. I could see heat being some issue, maybe not so much in the winter. In the summer we have a large maple and crape myrtle just outside the window that blocks a lot of light out. I see a few people on RC use suntubes to naturally light their tanks.
I attached some pictures so show the light we're getting. There's three small windows above our large ones that aren't covered, could get some frosted or tinted film if it becomes a problem. The other pictures shows the light the tank receives. The first was just taken, 11:15am, so the morning receives the most light. The other pictures were taken yesterday around 3:30pm. I'd guestimate it will receive about 3hrs of direct sunlight on some part of the tank each day. The only light is ambient from outside. Pardon the murky water, it was just filled and the sand was quite messy

Edit: as of right now, 11:45am, it is no longer receiving direct sunlight.
