Saw a post where a guy went outside with a PAR meter to see about sunlight... copy and paste below:
"Aprox. 15 mins ago, I went outside to see what amount of PAR our sun puts out. I usually think that 700+ PAR from a fixture is good for our tanks....but WOW....I wasnt expecting this.
Shade under a tree - 500-600 PAR
Direct sunlight at 4 pm in chicago - 1650-1800 PAR
My tank.....750 at waters surface."
Just thought it was good food for thought. Also proves PAR meters do exist.
