Are you sure about he 3 inch diameter? Maybe 4 inch, which is pretty standard for a filter sock in the hobby? 99% of all filter socks in the hobby are either 4" or 7" in diameter.

If you are choosing felt, 200 microns is pretty standard. If you are buying mesh, then I have found that 100 microns is about the equivalent regarding clog time for each one. 200 micron mesh socks take more time to clog than 200 micron felt socks, for whatever reason.
