So, building an AIO tank. Using an Innovative Marine Mighty Jet 538 return pump with 1/2 inch barb and 1/2 inch silicone vinyl tubing to run to return loc-line nozzle. This is a smallish 40 gallon AIO. How big should we make the hole from the sump section to do this? Was thinking of using a loc-line 90 degree elbow, but what is correct sizing?
Any advice would be super appreciated. Thanks!

If you're going to attach the flexible tubing to a PVC fitting as a means to attach the Loc-Line then I'd just have the 1/2" PVC fitting be able to just fit in the hole. A female threaded PVC fitting will allow you to screw the base Loc-Line fitting into it. You can then paint the fitting black to match. I believe the 1/2" PVC fitting will be about an inch in outside diameter, but buy what you're going to use first. Use a stepper drill bit to drill the hole and you should be able to match it up pretty close to the fitting size.
