175 watt pendants, thinking bout ordering replacement bulbs. However hamilton tech. says the 14k bulbs $69.95 is brighter than the 20k bulb for 59.95. Is this true, & also is that a good deal. Thx, T.

I know I have said this b4 but if you are using 175w and you don't have 175W 15,000K - Iwasak then you are wrong!!!!

But then I have had about 9 shots of patron so though very unlikely I may be wrong.

The 14k would be a better choice. What corals are you keeping and what size tank is this for?

The reason I asked is because 20k won't penetrate the water as deep as a 14k. If you are just keeping LPS and softies in a pretty shallow tank then the 20k wouldn't be a bad option. If you are keeping SPS and clams on the bottom of a deep tank then the 14k would provide more PAR toward the bottom. When you are changing spectrums, you are also changing the amount of light that you colors are exposed too.

I also agree that the 175w Iwasaki 15k is a great bulb if you are looking for PAR out of a 14k and up bulb.
