just wanted to say thanks for you service and to anyone else that has served

Lmao! it's just stuff man, you're growing an ecosystem. there's going to be hundreds of different things growing in your take that you never bought.

no problems ,don't be afraid to ask. you're going to be amazed at all the stuff that's growing in there.
by the way when I was a noob and I asked the exact same question you just did, that was the answer that was given to me...lol

Heath is right. The cycle kept me occupied even before I put livestock in. Seemed each night I would yell "honey come look at this!!!!"

I was amazed at my little feather duster... (now if only it would get off the rock and clean the rest of the tank).. lol.
it was really a trip when I seen it for the first time... I yelled at my husband and said this white tube thing is alive... lol. (pcmc3) -- I am going thru the same thing .... learning, wondering, and I know ppl on here think I am a real nut case with the questions I have asked
BUT hey... IM A NEWBIE, and that is how we learn... but some do treat you nice, because they were once where we are now. RIGHT !

Just wait until you see your fist "Hey, what's this (insert black or brown) blob? It's moving!"
