Need help with coralife skimmer.

I have been changing around my sump and I tried to run my coralife 65 as a hang on. It works great sitting in the sump but when it I tried it as a hang-on it dosn't seem to pull enough air and doesn't skim. Any idea why its doing this? Am I missing something?

The pump needs to be 3" underwater to work right. Check the venturi hole for saltcreep. I use a drill bit to clear it.
