Ok my 10yr old has really gotten interested on my reef and has taken an interest in sea horses. She helps with the water changes and even completes my water tests during my water changes. The only thing she can't do is lift the water.

So I told her I will allow her to have some. So this is for the folks that have sea horses. I need a reliable site so she and I can learn about them. Once I feel that she know what it takes I will allow her to keep them.

I have no clue what size of tank they will need. So I hope they can go in a small bio-cube. I was thinking 15-20 gal. If not I may have put my foot in my mouth to soon.

depends on what species of seahorse you are wanting to keep. ive kept some in the past i think the species was hippocampus erectus. and i have a friend that keeps dwarfs. if youre going to go with a larger seahorse like h. erectus you'll need a larger tank. but if you can convince your daughter to go with dwarfs than a small tank will do and is actually preferred. the biggest thing you need to know about seahorses is that they need to eat and they need to eat a lot. so in the begining be prepared to provide tons of live food and if you're lucky enough to train them onto frozen you will still need to be able to feed 3-5 times a day depending on how hungry they are.

I have a local friend who was raising them. Live food is what he told me is the key. Copepod, etc. was the diet of choose. I'm not sure if you can get them to eat any other foods, i.e. flake, pellets, etc.

Thanks guys. A lot of good info on that site. I think I stuck my foot in to soon. Lol

I've actually been to their farm on Kona. If you really want to get into things, I can send you all the Pete Giwonja training packets.
