I have a 45 gallon has been set up for about 2 months now. I added live sand (store bought) and about 20 pounds of established live rock, and did 30 gallon water change on my 210 gallon system. I added the 30 gallons to the tank and added 20 more gallons of fresh saltwater to this tank. I can't get the nitrates below 40. I have tested with several different name brand kits and get close to the same reading.. I have done several 5 gallon water changes and a few 10 gallon water changes and even one 20 gallon water change. there is no livestock in this tank just water, sand and rock. I even put a filter sock of Seachems denitrate in the sump to try and help and it dropped maybe to around 35... and I use seachem reef salt..also have a aquac remora running on it for about a month..
Anyone have any ideas on what to try next???
