Currently, I have a 54 corner and would like to add a sump. I want to do it right the first time. My question is should I use an overflow, get the tank drilled, or just buy a RR one? Second question, What is a closed loop? Thanks in advance for your help.

ideally, buy one that is RR--that saves headaches from drilling--second choice would be to drill; chrisjet on this website drills really reasonably-if you want a store-I know cappucino bay drills for like $25/hole----I would use an overflow as a last resort--they are really noisy, and I started with one, and got chris to drill my tank--(just make sure your tank glass isn't tempered). The closed loop has something to do with making a current without use of powerheads (I think)--I'm sure someone else has more knowledge that I do on CL, so I'm gonna leave it alone

Hummm that is totally up to you. I say if you already have the tank, and it is full, then go with an overflow box. If you have the tank and it is empty, take it to be drilled through the back and make a pre-filter box for it, if you want a totally new tank and have money to burn, but a RR tank. The decision is up to you. I use overflow boxes on all of my tanks and have had no real problems with them, some people do not like the look, I am fine with it.

As far as a closed loop, start your research
a>. Basically, it is a way to move water and get flow inside your tank with only using one pump instead of many powerheads.

chris can even drill them w/ water in them--(not to keep pushing him or anything)

I will NEVER buy a RR tank again. If and when I am ready for a new tank I am going to buy a none RR and have it drill the way I want it. You lose space in your tank when it RR and it hard to place some powerhead.

If the first [IMG]http://www.wetwebmedia.com/pbh2oret.htm">here</a> doesn't work use this one. [IMG]http://www.melevsreef.com/closedloop.html">http://www.melevsreef.com/closedloop.html</a>
