So over the last couple months i have been building a grow out tank and put it all together after Christmas. But I'm having the hardest time getting it to flow threw the sump properly due to the drain not doing a good job i have a Durso setup in the tank and for the life of me cannot get the syphon perfect. Anyone see anything wrong? Or do i just need to keep tweaking.

Thanks Red

Looks like you need to turn your durso standpipe down. Having it intake horizontally like that will make it suck in too much air. Also, why did you put a 45 on the emergency overflow? Why not just a vertical pipe? If it were my tank, I would just run the main drain in full siphon, then have the secondary drain as the emergency stand pipe for tuning the siphon. Run it like a Herbie overflow system.

Thanks for the link. That helps a ton! I guess i need to look into an overflow box so i can minimize the water that runs into the sump when the pump turns off.

You don't necessarily need an overflow box, as long as your sump has the volume to handle it, but it wouldn't hurt either. You would not only have less drain back, but you would have better surface skimming.

Have you thought about drilling the top of the overflow pipe so that air can break the siphon. If felt real crazy.... drill, tap and add
