I have always stayed away from mushrooms. I keep them in lower light with lower flow! Parameters are fine and spa/lps thrive. Zoas grow like wildfire! Is there anything I should be doing? I bought some two weeks ago and first two days they were gorgeous, since they have shrunk to half their original size and one looks like it is splitting. Any suggestions or things to check on?

Thats true!

Also... What kind of shrooms are they?

Ricordia are VERY slow.

I can't keep them alive under LED but they thrive for me under fluorescent and metal halide... what type of lighting do you have?

I have a 400w metal halide over the deepest part of the reef where my SOS and other stony's are and t5 over the other half. These are under the t5 with my leathers acans and sponges. I do not know what kind but I know they are not ricordia. They have a texture to them. Majority of the flesh is grey with orange opposing (sort of umbrella patern) with green mouths. Should I increase my feeding and put them under more intense lighting?

Edit: Sps and stony's***. Sorry autocorrect got me....

I have LEDs over my tank, and well my SPS are growing faster than my softies(kenya tree excluded).

After doing some reading I believe my problem is salinity fluctuations! That MH has a lot of evaporation issues and I do not have an ATO or an in home rodi so sometimes it is a day or two before I can get it back down where I like it. Does anyone have a good design for a DIY ATO?

All you need is a float switch, a pump and a water container.
Plain ole Rubbermaid trash can worked great for me.
I now use a 55 gallon drum ...but most anything will work.

I have bad luck with mushrooms where I put them, but all the ones that have drifted away end up growing pretty darn big! I just figure I can't compete with nature. You could also put clear lids over your tanks to prevent evap (at least in winter when you won't need as much cooling)
