Okay...this post is a bit late but better late than never. I am setting up a 300g DD tank that I ripped out the corner overflows on to convert to a peninsula style tank. I've got just about everything that I need with the exception of a skimmer and I need 2 additional Ecotech Radions.
So after ripping out the corner overflows, I bought 2 square peices of 1/4 inch plate glass and used silicone to cover up the holes in the bottom in each corner. I then drilled one side of the tank and installed a Synergy Reef ghost overflow. The overflow is awesome. The footprint inside the tank is almost nonexistent. I bought plumbing pieces and am now ready to start putting it all together.
After a few days of allowing the silicone to cure...I decided to do a leak test today. I decided to fill it up just below the overflow line because I wanted the plate glass and silicone to undergo the pressure of a full tank experience. That said all was well with the exception of a small leak from the bulkhead on the ghost overflow. This is most likely due to a loose bulkhead. I was only able to hand tighten but will get an adjustable wrench and fix this. My plan is to let the water sit for a few days just to be certain were good.
In the meantime I plan on completing my plumbing but would like some help on the overflow. I would like to do a herbie method or bean animal but I'm not quite sure how it all works. I mean I get the concept but just need clarity on a few things.
Enough reading. Here are some photos for your viewing experience. I'm open to suggestions and or criticism so please chime if you like.
Thanks!!
