Installed new apex and the display was initially blue and blank. Unplugged and tried again and worked fine for 5 minutes then a bunch of jumbled letters and number on the screen. Tried a couple more times but same result. Sent an email to neptune, but was wondering if anybody else has had this problem?

What slot are you plugging the display into?

I want to say that the first aquabus port is the one it is supposed to go into, but not certain. Seem to remember it stating it somewhere in the manual. Could be a firmware issue, or even a faulty/buggy display.

Double check on your cable wire connection from display to the base. I have same problem last month and turn out was a bad cable wire..

+1 if you haven't already tried this. Unplug your display and reboot the apex. Then plug the display module in. If that doesn't work go into your module menu and update the firmware for the module. You may need to delete it and then reinstall it.

i tried the reboot but didnt change. I did unplug the display for 10 minutes and it came back fine for about a minute then back to the same problem. Where is the module menu. Im a tech idiot so probably over my head with this anyway. I also plugged the display into the first aquabus port. Thats what the picture showed. Im using the APEX fusion online to program and run it for now which i guess is ok.

This is what I got
<fieldset class="gc-fieldset">

If I remember correctly I don't think it really matters which port you plug it into. I would start with updating your firmware to the latest version.

- Make sure you use a hard wired connection to the Apex. If you use fusion to update them you may run into problems. A lot of users have experienced issues with a wireless update.

Here is the instructions. I copied and pasted it (way too much to type) lol

Quick-start Firmware Upgrade Guide

To update the firmware follow the following procedure:
1. Go to our website and download the firmware here.
1. http://www.neptunesystems.com/support/sw-updates/">http://www.neptunesystems.com/support/sw-updates/</a>
2. Ensure a hardwired connection between computer and router and router to Apex 1. NO Wireless
2. Disable your wireless on your computer
3. Disable any virus/firewall software on your computer
1. If you do not know how to do this, then restart your computer in "Safe Mode w/networking"
4. Open the Apex flash utility
1. For PC: Put the controller IP address in the network address line, and fill in the
other appropriate information
2. For Mac: Add a controller and fill in the appropriate information
5. Click Update firmware
1. For PC: If it does not load the firmware after failed attempt 2, then power cycle
your Apex by removing the Aquabus cable from the EB8 to the base unit.
2. For Mac: If it does not connect retrying two times, then power cycle your Apex
by removing the Aquabus cable from the EB8 to the base unit.
6. After the firmware update, then update the web pages.
Some common errors that are made in a firmware update include (from most common to least common):
1. Not having a hard wire connection between computer and router
2. Not having a hard wire connection between Apex and router
3. Not disabling virus/firewall software
4. Not running computer in safe mode w/ Networking

Yeah, biggest thing being make sure there is absolutely no wireless connections. Make sure that wireless is turned off on your computer, your computer is wired to the router, and your apex is wired directly to the router.

Try unplug the display, then unplug the base unit. Wait five minutes, plug the base unit in, wait a couple minute and plug the display in. That resets the firmware if I remember correctly. Had to do that about a month ago.

While I love my Apex, these are the kind of problems that drive me insane...

Agreed 100%. And the fact you can't setup or change a few things via fusion. Ughhh

From you browser type in this:

Change the IP Address and port to reflect your address and port. If your port hasn't changed its port 80.

http://192.168.1.1:4600/cgi-bin/abdump.cgi">http://192.168.1.1:4600/cgi-bin/abdump.cgi</a>

You should get something that looks like this. Make sure you see the 2nd display when you plug it in and also look to see if it's says (OK)

got the update completed. still solid blue screen. no wifi involved. trying to unplug both for 5 and see what happens. thanks for all the responses. def taking the excitement out of it.

Look carefully at the display wire. Make sure the wire isn't cut anywhere. You may want to open the cover to the display WHILE UNPLUGGED of course and make sure the connection is tight and not loose and inspect to make sure the wire or connector isn't damaged.

It appears from the image you sent that your missing dots pixels what ever you want to call it.. I would presume the dump procedure I sent will in fact show the display. Is this a NEW or Used display ?

whoa, not sure how to do that.

What's your IP address of the APEX?

If you don't know it PM your number and I'll walk you thru the process of getting it

I PM'd you my cell number. Call me if you would like assistance. Dave

Once you get through this part the rest is simple. Sometimes it's easier said than done. :(
