I found an old style gumball shaped retail holder at a thrift shop. I picked it up and decided to turn it into an aquarium. I posted this to start with in the freshwater section but it soon became an entire diy project.

This was the beginning. It has at this point 20ish gallons.

Here I added more water and some led lights. They are basic led strip I got from lowes and I pushed them through clear flexible tubing to water proof them. I am building a different style housing unit for them though because I want them around the bottom instead of in the background.

Here it is with the light added to the lid. I just put a xenon puck light upside on the lid secured with screws.
The next problem was scratches in the acrylic. I wanted to buff them out without having to sand the tank and make it even thinner. So I found the toothpaste method. Here are the before and after results.
