New bulb help

I have an older MH canopy that I got from another member. He hadn't used it awhile and it has been running a year over my 50g (36x18x18). I don't have a light meter, but i think I need to start changing the bulbs out. There are alot of choices and spectrums to choose from. What is a good combo? It has 2 36" VHO's and 2 175w MH. Overkill I know. I need a bigger tank I'm still learning, so I just have some fish and easy corals in there now.

They need to be changed every 8 months or so (depending on how long they are on a day). What are your future plans as far as corals go? What color are you looking for?
