Just got a new clownfish today, black juvi ocellaris . Its gills seem bent outward and it looks quite unsightly. They aren't red or anything just bent out. Is this a genetic defect or a health issue? SHould i return the clown? Its a $50 clown.

That is considered a defect, although it's just cosmetic and shouldn't be problem.

Edit: should it had cost less than the reg price because of the defect? It really unsightly to me, i dont like it at all

But you bought it... It should not cost any less because the vendor you purchased it from has a cost and a markup to keep them in business. If it is unsightly I would try to return it. In this hobby it is VERY important to inspect everything you buy before you purchase

That fish got flared gills when it was a larvae. It happens. It didn't happen when they bagged it up. How did you not notice when you picked it out? I have no idea what a store would charge for a fish with flared gills. Some people like it :) just like misbars
I, personally, will buy back my fish, but I would never haggle with someone after a sale.

i dont want it cheaper i was just wandering, but i will see if i can atleast exchange it. and i was over excited, i should have looked more closely before buying.
