So I’m starting to cycle my 12 gallon using Dr Tims and a raw shrimp. It’s only been 2 days and the tanks is cloudy and there are particles on the surface of the water . Never had this happen before so I’m at a loss. The tank is a Maxspect Dice nano. Not sure if the pics help.
Any help would be appreciated.

cloudy may be due to a bacteria bloom and can clear up on its own. If you have a skimmer turn it on per Dr. Tim's instruction as i remember.

Is the shrimp in a media bag? You have ability to skim surface?

I pulled the shrimp . But yes it was in a media bag. The tank has an over flow for surface skimming . I think I figured out the issue just waiting to see if it cleans up.

Many years ago I made the mistake of just putting the shrimp in the sand bed. Needless to say it was a mistake. Not much smells worse than a decomposed shrimp.

Haha yea we pulled it the second day when I came home from work and caught wind of the smell. Just letting the tank cycle slowly and all is going well. Should be able to add some live stock by next weekend.
