New Di cartridge came today, from spectrapure from premium aquatics. Came sealed in a bag.

Interesting thing about it though, it is wet and smells very strongly of fish. So strongly that after handling my hands smelled for x2 hrs. Does anyone know if this is normal? I've purchased di cartridges before for other projects (non aquarium related) and never had one come wet/smelling

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I just ordered the Kent Marine one (DI) and it came sealed and it did not smell at all. I have never head of this happening before.

resin is 1/2 orange, 1/2 black

...I know what you're getting at :-)

I believe it has been used. so odd...

Here is what I learned from premium aquatics

spectrapure makes their own resin/packages the items themselves. Di cartridges should never come dry as it destroys the filtering properties. The smell of 'dead fish' is typical of the resin that spectrapure uses and goes away once the unit is hooked up to the ro/di.

In my mind, this is a resolved issue.

Sounds like good customer service as well if you were answered in a day.
