Finally getting around to converting our 60 cube to a reef. Already had it running with an shops sump and aquatic life ho T5.

I've drilled a few extra holes for a bean setup, cut and bent lexan for a full length overflow, finished and leak tested plumbing. Not sure if I'm allowed to post links but here is video of the overflow.

I'm also working on a dig controller using arguing, Intel Edison and a spare Linux box. Not sure how fast that is going to progress but so far I can't see dishing out the cash for a controller when I can dig and have much more granular control over everything.

I'll post progress on the build and controller as I have time.

Thanks for a great local forum,

Holy cow - sorry for the typos

Eshopps sump, diy controller using Arduino

Welcome on board and I'm glad to see another DIY person doing their thing.
Good luck with the tank and I'll follow along to see how it all turns out.

Picked up 2 Jebao RW-8 power heads. Unboxed 1 of them and after a quick functional check I opened the controller box, checked which wire had varying voltage when pump speed changed and started hacking wires.

An hour later I've got the Arduino controlling the RW-8. This should give me almost unlimited control and get beyond the built in controller limitations such as a 10 minute feed mode.

Need to decide on a skimmer next. Thinking a reef octopus 110 or 150. Opinions?
