So I bought a yasha white shrimp goby on a group buy from live aquaria. Keep it in the dark and dripped him for two hours. Add to tank (with lights out) and he darted away immediatly. While dripping he was very active. But since he darted away yesterday I cannot find him anywhere. I do not have a ton of rocks for him to hide in but have enough and moved a majority of them looking for him. He didnt jump, I had a lid on the tank. Havent seen hermits or shrimp in any main location " eating". Tankmates ( clown and 2 chromis)are swimming and happy.

Should I take all the rocks out and look for him, maybe he got crushed?

Should I just not worry and maybe he will surface? I have spent hours staring at my tank looking for that 25$ bill floating around.

Anyone have experience with gobies?

My guess is scared and timid. Give him time and I believe he will turn up. The more you turn rock, the more he will stay hidden. They can be masters of burrowing.

Thanks, I know im stressing over nothing. My fear is I land a rock on him although rocks were repositioned ontop of rocks not the sand bed.

I feel your frustration.

Best thing is to let him chill. I had a wrasse that didn't come out for about a week. Once he came out he became the star of the show and I can't look too closely at my tank without him swimming in front of my view.

I would just give it some time, I have a watchman goby that has been in my tank for years and he still goes missing for days sometimes. I often wonder what him and my pistol shrimp are doing in their underground layer:)

Hehe thanks, im still try to get expereince at this ( learning all the time) and still equate MIA to death. Ill keep hands out of the tank and secretly hope that i have not rocked him or he has been eaten. Ill report back once I see him or not just to gauge lenth of time or some other new can refer back to.

Love this sickness...nay hobby :)

Edit:

The second pic in your build thread is the exact goby that I am looking for. They are so freakin cool looking. Love the orange/ white contrast.

Let the waiting begin. :fish:

He is alive! I was cleaning the glass and noticed him hanging out under a rock.
cruddy photo but here is first glimpse.

I got a yasha from LA last friday. He did the exact same thing. It's nice to know yours finally surfaced, it makes me feel better about mine xD

yeah he has this cool black dot on his nose, to which the kid named him spot :). Now "Glubie" and "no more monkeys jumping on the bed" have a friend.

LOL Got to say those are better names than my wife has picked for some of our fish. :-)

yeah, when you give a 3year old the keys to the car no telling what happens...Like a purple stand.

ROTFL...... That is great. But, a sign of a very good daddy who is willing to let a kid be a kid. :-)
