Well first off my name is Matt Gee and i'm from Gainesville, Georgia. I picked up a biocube 29g off craigslist for $175 about 2 months ago. Through trial and error I have started to get a hang on this reef thing. My biggest error to date has been putting black sand in my tank which turned out lots of magnetic bits in the sand:yuk:. Took that sand out and bought Reef Oo Light sand and changed out my sand. Well that caused continual sandstorms in my tank so after 3 weeks I finally went to Atlanta Aquarium and got some advice. I ended up changing my sand for a third time but this time with special grade reef sand that is a much larger grain size. Well i'm pleased to say after 2 weeks my water is finally crystal clear thanks to the guys at Atlanta Aquarium:yay:. I have since bought 3 frags ( GPS, Candy cane, and zoa's ). Currently I have a CUC, 2 clown fish, a blue damsel, and a Banded shrimp who is kinda a bully. I'm currently saving up to get a stand for the Biocube and some more frags. Here are some pictures of my tank

Welcome to Arc. I am pretty new to all this too. Been almost 5 months. Tank is looking nice. Keep the pictures comine. :-)

We all live and learn! LOL! Welcome to the club. Just looking at your pics, you may want to cut your photo period back a little. It looks like you've got some green algae starting up. Keep a watch on your phosphates too.

Ah right now I have my actinic lights on 12 hour and my 10,000k on 7 hours is that to much? Also if anyone has any coral frags for sale let me know. I've been looking for frogspawn but no store has them in a small frag.

I would reduce it. I have my actinics come on at 9am then off at 11am....my 20k's come on at 11 until 4pm then off and the actinics come back until until 8. Now mind you, this is on a 93g cube. When I had a 28 nano....I ran an even shorter light period. You don't have much water volume so even minor changes can cause issues. It's a bigger deal for smaller tanks to be cleaner and maintained better than a larger tank.

I have a frogspawn frag. It's a purple and green tip.....Not sure...I think it's 3 heads....$30.

Ah ok do you have any pictures of the frogspawn

If that frag doesn't work out check with Jenn and Imagine Ocean. Last time I was in there she had several nice size frags of Frogspawn and Hammers at very good prices.
